Dogs play an important part in many of our lives. When a President and his family moves into the White House, their pets come too. (FYI, President Trump has no pets.) The first White House dog who caught the attending of newspapers was President Harding's dog, Laddie (an Airedale). FDR had a Scottish Terrier named Fala. President Nixon's dog Checkers turned the tide of Nixon's claim to VP on the ticket in 1952.
