Happy Inspire Your Heart with Art Day and Happy National Fun at Work Day and Happy National Hot Chocolate Day.

Inspire your heart with art.  There are so many ways you can do that.  I have a picture or saying as the background on my computer and change it frequently to keep myself entertained.  It's usually sarcastically funny.  It's not high-class art but it inspires me to laugh.  There's a lot of inspiration at an art gallery.  Have you ever been to the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.?  It's an amazing place!  Go, if you ever get the chance.  How better to inspire yourself than to create your own art masterpiece.  if you do, please post a picture in the comments so we can all enjoy it.  BFF, Chrissy, created a fairy condo out of flower pots and paint and little accessories for a Christmas gift.  It was very cool!  We are made in the image of God and He is The Creator; we also get fulfillment out of creating.  Use your talents and maybe discover some new talents to inspire yourself and others today.

Speaking of being inspired, do you have fun at work?  We do at my work.  Some offices like to party and some have fun in a more sedate way, but fun is fun.  Fun can be physical, mental, solitary, or with others.  We control our own thoughts and emotions and set our own mood.  if fun isn't going on around you, set your mind to think on enjoyable things and create your own fun.

I bought some hot chocolate K-cups to use at work and discovered I'm not all that fond of hot chocolate.  I'm going to put them out in our breakroom to share today.  Hopefully, that will create some fun at my work.  Do you like hot chocolate?  With marshmallows or whipped cream?  With cinnamon or peppermint?

As we bid a fond farewell to January 2020, granddaughter, MJ, says National Soup Month was Souper!

Happy National Croissant Day and Happy National Escape Day

Croissants make a nice light substitute for sandwich bread.  My BFF, Chrissy, used to make chicken salad on croissants for us.  That's about all I have to say about croissants.  Do you like them?  Do you use them?

Calgon, take me away!  Does anyone remember that commercial?  Daughter, Amanda, had an Escape vehicle once upon a time and she used to escape in it.  🚙  Have you ever been through an Escape Room?  I haven't, but some of my family has and I think they enjoyed it.  Grandson, Jackson, has an Escape game for kids, and son, Matt and his wife, Cat, have a grown-up version.  Matt and Cat leant their game to Amanda, and family who brought it to youngest daughter, Katherine's.  They played when they were together for Christmas.  Katherine said it was a lot of fun.  Is an Escape Room an experience you are interested in having?  I don't think I would like it.  I cry when I'm lost and I'm easily frustrated.  How do you escape?  Where do you escape to for real or in your dreams?  My escape is to get a Diet Coke from McDonald's drive-thru, park in a pleasant place, and listen to my Kindle read a book to me, all by myself.

Happy National Corn Chip Day & Happy National Carnation Day & Happy National Puzzle Day

Wow, lots of random things to celebrate!  You can wear a carnation while eating corn chips while doing a puzzle.  Or do a puzzle while wearing corn chips (on your shirt front) and eating a sweet carnation petal (not the whole flower, it's bitter).

If you missed Daisy Day, you have another opportunity to give some a bouquet - this time carnations.  They come in a wide variety of colors and are so pretty.  Or you can make fudge using Carnation milk.  The linked recipe sounds very easy and yummy.

Who doesn't like chips and salsa or nachos?  I think we should eat at La Cocina Mexican restaurant tonight.  If you're in the Raleigh, NC area, they have multiple locations but the one closest to us is  764 Shotwell Rd, Clayton.  (The address on their website is their old Clayton location.)

So many kinds of puzzles to celebrate with today - jigsaw (I don't like those; I pound the pieces to make them fit), crossword, word search, Sudoku (my current favorite).  Once upon a time when I was a young teen, someone gave me a puzzle ring.  I'm not good at physical puzzles so I taped it together because I needed help every time it came apart.  If you're celebrating Puzzle Day, use #NationalPuzzleDay to post on social media.
Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter [like a puzzle?]; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.

Share how you will celebrate today.

Happy National Blueberry Pancake Day and Happy Daisy Day

I bought some frozen blueberry pancakes to celebrate today.  I know, it's so easy to make pancakes but I took the lazy way out.  Hopefully, Leah and Aaron won't mind blueberries in their pancakes.  And I won't put cheese on these 'cause that really does sound gross.

Walmart sells Daisy brand dairy products.  Eat some Daisy cottage cheese or put a dollop of Daisy sour cream on a taco.  Or watch an old Blondie and Dagwood movie (their dog is Daisy).  Or give someone a daisy or a whole bouquet of daisies!  And make sure you are as "fresh as a daisy" when you leave home today.

How will you celebrate?
Family texts:

Katherine:  (pic)  Giving people the ingredients to celebrate today themselves.
Abbie:  Why is the one naked???
Katherine:  Maybe they’re poor and that shirt is just ripped and dirty not naked.
Abbie:  No because you can see the sleeves on the guys shirt.  She is definitely the naked blueberry lady
Me:  Look at the hands.  They are aliens and the blueberries are their trackers marking the chosen ones.
Abbie:  Well if the man is the “chosen one” why are his hands like that too??
Katherine:  You’re ruining this.  It’s fine, no one gets blueberries today from strangers.
Me:  Probably a good idea.
Amanda:  She’s definitely naked.  I wondered too why a naked old lady was slipping blueberries into an unsuspecting gentleman’s pocket.
Abbie:  Aaron said, “why are they so ugly and are those his fingers or fingernails.  I can’t look at this anymore.
Amanda:  I don’t blame him.  It is a creepy drawing.  I was trying to figure out why the wrinkles on the woman’s abdomen and realized they were supposed to be her fingers.

Happy National Chocolate Cake Day and Happy National Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day

Everyone should be happy with one or the other of these two things to celebrate.

Who doesn't love chocolate cake?  Well, there are a few in my family who don't prefer chocolate so I will have to eat their pieces.  If you use dark chocolate, isn't it healthier?  So chocolate cake can be good for you.

What better way to get out frustrations than by popping bubble wrap?  Did you know that bubble wrap was originally intended to be wallpaper?  Can you imagine how crazy that would drive you?  Especially if you were told not to pop the wallpaper.  Everyone would know immediately if you disobeyed; the noise would give you away.  The walls would have to be replaced weekly!  It's amazing how many things were invented by accident.  If you can't get your hands on some bubble wrap, see if you can find a free Chuzzles game to play online.  Popping chuzzles is as much fun as popping bubble wrap.

Happy National Peanut Brittle Day and Happy Spouse's Day

Peanut brittle - a dentist's dream candy.  I am partial to Pay Day candy bars but that isn't peanut brittle, but it's kind of close.  One myth of how peanut brittle came to be is that a Southern lady mistakenly used baking soda instead of cream of tartar while making taffy.  You can make your own peanut brittle but a candy thermometer is recommended when working with caramel.  Another tip:  don't try to make it on a humid day, it won't hold it's shape.

Speaking of holding your shape (😉), if you have or had a spouse, think about the good times and, if possible, create new memories to think about in the year's to come.  It's a good day for families to share good memories of parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.  If you don't have a spouse yet, it's a great time to pray and dream about the kind of person you would like as a spouse and thank God for him/her.

This verse is telling us to think about God but let's also thank God for loved ones.
Deuteronomy 32:7a Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past.

Happy Chinese New Year and Happy National Florida Day  and
Happy National Opposite Day - I mean Unhappy National Opposite Day

In China, the New Year's celebration lasts 15 days from the first day of the new moon until the full moon.  It's the biggest holiday in Chinese culture.  They don't celebrate Christmas so Chinese New year is a time to gather as families and enjoy good food and each other.  If you like games, there are plenty of online Mahjong games you can play to celebrate.  Youngest daughter, Katherine, and I plan to celebrate by getting Chinese food take-out and fortune cookies.

National Florida Day commemorates the day Florida became the 27th state.  I would say celebrate by going to the beach but it's been cold all along the East Coast of the US, including Florida!  If you're crafty, the Dollar Store sells shells.  you can create a nautical fairy garden.  Or paint a picture of a sunset or sunrise of the ocean.  Or watch or read Because of Winn-Dixie (book author - Kate DiCamillo).  Or play Ticket to Ride and see who can get to Florida first.  Drink orange juice while you play.  Use #NationalFloridaDay to share how you're celebrating on social media.

It's not National Opposite Day.  Boy, is this paragraph going to be easy to write!  To not celebrate, have dinner for breakfast, I mean breakfast for dinner.  However you don't celebrate, make sure those around you don't know that you don't mean the opposite of what you say, or don't say.  I'm not confused at all!  Please don't use #NationalOppositeDay to post on social media.

Let me know how you're not celebrating today.  😉

Happy National Peanut Butter Day & Happy National Eskimo Pie Day & Happy Compliment Day

Who likes peanut butter?  I think it's addictive.  I like to take a peanut butter sandwich to work for breakfast and I crave it on days I don't have one.  Do you like yours with jelly?  Have you tried it with marshmallow crème?  I'm almost rolling my eyes at the thought of how good that tastes!  My boss likes to put peanut butter and syrup on his pancakes.  At the risk of grossing out one of my friends, I prefer cheese on my pancakes - no syrup, but peanut butter sounds pretty good.  I'll have to try that.  What do you think?  How do you like your peanut butter?  On bread?  By the spoon?  In a cookie?

It's a little cold for Eskimo Pie but true ice cream lovers probably don't care.  I should have mentioned this one on National Pie Day.  I do like ice cream that has chocolate and peanut butter in it.  Maybe I should top an Eskimo Pie with a spoonful of peanut butter.  What's your favorite ice cream?

Let's be sure to say something nice and true (don't be smarmy) to at least one person today.  We all like compliments.  Let's especially remember those who assist us at the store, in a restaurant, and those who protect us locally and abroad.  A thank you for your service is always nice to hear.

Happy National Pie Day
(Not to be confused with Pi Day in March)

Dinner can be Pizza Pie, Shepherd's Pie, or Chicken Pot Pie.
How about Apple Pie, Lemon Meringue Pie, or Pecan Pie for dessert?
You can make a mud pie, wear a pork pie hat (nothing to do with pork meat), play the game Pie Face, listen to the song American Pie, read Ginger Pye by Eleanor Estes, but don't get pie eyed - that's never a good idea.

How will pie play into your life today?

Happy Celebration of Life Day!

Originally Celebration of Life Day was to celebrate the children in our lives but it has expanded to be more general.  If you are celebrating children, you can post on social media using #CelebrationofLifeDay

Here are some suggestions for celebrating today.
Spend time with loved ones.  Share good family stories.  There's no substitute for time.
Make a list of things in your life worth celebrating, good things in your life.
Be thankful and appreciative.
Are there things you need to change? Things to embrace? Things to let go?
Set at least one goal to improve your life and plan how to accomplish it.
Sometimes the thing that brings the most change is a shift in our own perspective and attitude.
When it's hard to celebrate remember 1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast.

Celebrate Infancy
Celebrate Maturity

Happy National Hugging Day & Happy National Granola Day & Happy International Sweatpants Day & Happy New England Clam Chowder Day

Another day with so many "holidays" to celebrate!

I celebrated International Sweatpants Day yesterday since I was off work and it was 35 degrees here.  Word from my family is it was 22 degrees in VA and 43 degrees in Northern FL.  Brrr, but it IS January.  Thank you, God, for furnaces and fireplaces, warm clothes and car heaters!

I will be making New England Clam Chowder in the crockpot to celebrate (with a nod to National Soup Month).  Hope it turns out good; it's a new recipe for me.  Remember to eat a granola bar today.  I like sweet and salty and fruity ones.  How about you?

Hug someone today.  Studies show that infants stop growing and die if they aren't touched.  Let's bring life today.  In Isaiah 49:16 God says, "See I have engraved you on the palms of my hands."  God is always holding us.

Happy National Cheese Lover Day & Happy Take a Walk Outdoors Day

This day should make my boss extra happy.  He's from Wisconsin and loves to be outdoors.

We are cheese lovers at my house.  I mentioned I like Parmesan cheese on my popcorn.  Maybe dinner tonight can be cheeseburgers and mac & cheese.  The temperature is supposed to be in the 40's so maybe broccoli, potato, cheese soup will be a better choice and we can celebrate National Soup Month too!
An easy snack that looks impressive is to cut string cheese into bite size pieces.  Try that at your next gathering but don't give away the secret when people are impressed with your contribution.
Or, going in a totally different direction with Cheese Lover Day, tell some cheesy jokes (like Dad jokes).  Leave me some jokes to groan about in the comments!  My grandson, Jackson loves knock knock jokes so I hope he gets to be cheesy today.  Most knock knock jokes would qualify as cheesy, don't you think?

Hope the weather permits you to take a walk outdoors.  I bought a pair of binoculars this month and today would be an appropriate day to do some bird watching.
Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?

How will you celebrate today?

Happy National Popcorn Day & Happy National Tin Can Day & Happy Whisper "I Love You" Day

Again, lots to celebrate.

Popcorn might be my favorite non-sweet snack.  I like sprinkling Parmesan cheese on mine.  I like Caramel Corn too.  How do you like your popcorn?

I think lunch should be out of cans today even though they don't actually use tin cans anymore.  I don't mean eat it out of a can, which sounds gross.  Maybe we'll have canned soup and tuna sandwiches.  That's an easy after-church meal.
Another way to celebrate Tin Can Day is to contribute some cans of food to the local food bank.
One suggestion for Raleigh and surrounding areas in NC is the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.

Lastly, make sure to whisper "I love you" today.  Maybe whisper in a loved ones ear or maybe whisper it from afar or to a memory or maybe whisper as you pass a mirror.  Whichever you choose, it will lift someone's spirit - unless you whisper it to a stranger.  Then it may get you into trouble!

I hope you hear God whisper "I love you" to you today.
1 John 4:11 "Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Happy Thesaurus Day and Happy National Use Your Gift Card Day

What a great reminder today to use the gift cards we received for Christmas.  Too many times ours get put in a drawer and I find them a year later.

I enjoy words and looking them up in a thesaurus gives many nuances of a word.  Merriam-Webster is my favorite Dictionary and Thesaurus.  They have lots of word games on their website too.

Or you can celebrate by playing Taboo,

Or write an acrostic poem of a word using synonyms or antonyms.
Here's my acrostic haiku (for Aubrey).
Have fun with creating poetry and please share yours below.
DAY -
Darkness hides its face,
Averting its eyes before
Yellow rays of love

Happy Ben Franklin Day

Wouldn't we all like to look at Ben Franklin's image on a $100 bill?

Ben Franklin was an inventor, author, printer, politician, diplomat, musician, and postmaster.

To celebrate his day we could watch National Treasure.  Ben Franklin wrote under the pseudonym Silence Dogood.

Check out The Franklin Institute website.  It's not all about him but I guess it's inspired by his interests and inventor status.  The Institute is physically located in Philadelphia, PA.

What fun facts do you know (or looked up) about Ben Franklin?
Did you know he spent half his life in unofficial retirement as a gentleman of leisure?

Happy National Fig Newton Day and Happy National Religious Freedom Day
and for those who don't like Fig Newtons, it's also International Hot and Spicy Food Day

Do you like fig bars?  I do; although, I don't buy name brand, I buy store brand.
What's your favorite cookie?  (Reminds me of Buddy the Elf.)
(Did you go back and read the cookie question like he said the color question?  I did 👵)

Would you prefer spicy food to sweets?  My son-in-law, Brandon, and my son, Matt, really like to spice up their food.  They test out hot sauces and seem to think the hotter the better.  I accidentally ate a hot red pepper once.  My eyes watered so I couldn't see and a dragon flew down my throat so I couldn't breathe!  The spiciest I get is buffalo sauce for my nuggets at McDonald's.

What a Godly heritage my country has; too bad that isn't being taught anymore.  I am grateful that, at least for now, Christians in the USA have freedom to openly worship and share their love for Jesus Christ.  How appropriate that my church, Calvary Faith Center in Wendell, NC is having its first small group meeting tonight!  If you're looking for a place to learn about Jesus and grow and be loved, come on by any Sunday.

I would be remiss if I didn't quote what Jesus said about a fig tree and faith in Matthew 21:21 on this celebration of Religious Freedom Day.  Jesus replied, "Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done.".

It's National Hat Day, and National Bagel Day, as well as National Strawberry Ice Cream Day!
(I couldn't choose just one to celebrate today.)

Do you own a hat that isn't a baseball cap?  I think that's the only kind of hat in our house.
I'll just read a book about hats or try to pitch cards into a hat like the scene in Groundhog Day.  The obvious hat book is The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss, but one of my kid's favorite hat books was Caps for Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina.  And what's the name of the Eastman children's book with the line, "Do you like my hat?"  That's a fun book too.

I bought bagels and cream cheese to celebrate with my coworkers.  I think we've had sweet treats at work every day this year so far.  Nothing like setting expectations early - no dieting going on around here.

Speaking of sweet treats, do you like strawberry ice cream with chunks of strawberries in it?  My grandson, Caleb, works at Culvers so we might need to pay a visit there today.  Although, it's not "ice cream," it's "custard," as Caleb keeps telling me.

Will you indulge in either of these treats on this special day?  While wearing a hat?

As we enjoy today, let's remember Proverbs 30:33 and seek harmony.  For as churning cream produces butter [or ice cream], and as twisting the nose produces blood so stirring up anger produces strife.

Happy National Shop for Travel Day

There's something I can participate in as long as I can shop online.  Hubby and I did a lot of traveling last year and hope to travel quarterly this year too.  Maybe we'll shop timeshare options.  Hubby gave me 2 National Park books so I could figure out which ones I'd like to see.  He shopped for travel a little early.  😊  If we're going to visit some National Parks this year I think I should shop for trail mix and animal crackers!

Here are some ideas to celebrate today.  What are yours?
If you're a AAA member, you can get tourbooks for states in the US.
Janetta Fudge-Messmer wrote a 4-book series called the Early Birds.  The books are about 4 retirees who travel around the country in RVs helping where needed along the way.
An easy read is Oh, the Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss; you can "buy" this one at the library.

As we think about traveling this year let's remember Proverbs 16:9  A man's mind plans his way as he journeys through life, but the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.
and in Proverbs 23:23, God tells us to Buy Truth, and do not sell it; Get wisdom and instruction and understanding.

Happy National Sticker Day and again, Happy National Soup Month

Are you "souped" out yet?  I think I'm getting there.  We've had soup several times this month and we aren't half way through yet!  What kind of soup have you had so far?  Hubby made vegetable beef soup and ham & bean soup and I took leftover soup to work for lunch a couple of times.

National Sticker Day is a great time for scrapbook crafters and journal keepers to shine as well as teachers and children.  Post a picture of your masterpiece on social media using #NationalStickerDay.  Show off a family sticker poster.  Tell a story using stickers.  Get an early start on making Valentine's Day cards.  Start pricing those yard sale items you're holding.  How can you use stickers today?  This is how granddaughter, Leah, showed ownership of her new laptop.

Happy National Hot Tea Day & National Sunday Supper Day

Are you a coffee drinker or a tea connoisseur?  What's your favorite flavor of tea?  Do you prefer tea already in bags or loose?

Will you celebrate by dressing up and having a tea party?  Hopefully, not by dumping it into the ocean like the patriots of long ago!

The TEA Council of the USA is having a sweepstakes.  It runs until January 31, 2020 so there's still time to enter and you can enter multiple times!  The prize is $500, a year's supply of tea, and a tea mug.  To see instructions on how to enter go to the IndividualiTEA website.  They want a picture or video showing how you enjoy your tea.

And plan to celebrate National Sunday Supper Day by eating.  Invite someone to dine with you.  You can even sing for your supper.

Happy National Milk Day

Celebrating the first time milk was delivered to homes in sterilized bottles.

When I was growing up, the milkman delivered dairy products right to our door.  He left items in a metal box next to the door and took the empty milk bottles that were in there.  I remember getting cottage cheese and milk but we probably could order sour cream and maybe even cheeses.

One of my daughters gets milk from a dairy farm.  They don't bring it to her, she goes to the source.

How will you celebrate National Milk Day?
I'll definitely put half and half in my coffee in the morning.
Maybe I'll have cereal for breakfast.
Doesn't a milkshake sound like a good idea too?
We can watch Oliver! the musical.  One of the scenes has milk maids in it.
Maybe tonight we'll go star gazing and try to find the Milky Way!
What will you do?

Happy National Houseplant Appreciation Day & Happy National Thank You Month

Do you have houseplants?  Do you talk to them?  I read that plants are affected by the atmosphere around them.  We can speak blessings or curses that affects everything within earshot.
I have a couple of houseplants myself but I tend to ignore them.  Maybe today I will pat them on the leaf and say "thank you" for being pretty.

What better time to send a card or text to someone thanking them for the impact they've had on your life.
Saying "thank you" is second nature to many of us but maybe today we can be more mindful of saying it;  maybe add the reason we're thanking someone.
What ideas do you have to show thankfulness this month?

Happy Word Nerd Day & Happy Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

How can we show our law enforcement officers how much we appreciate them?
I have seen people in restaurants pay for the meal of officers.  That's a nice gesture.
It's always good to hear words of encouragement and thanks.
What are some of your suggestions?

Celebrate words!
Cite vocabulary!
Eulogize  (or criticize) something!
Use words of more than 2 syllables!

Show off your word nerdiness by playing Scrabble or Boggle or Take Two (aka Bananagrams)
Do a crossword puzzle,
Read - the best way to increase your vocabulary and become a word nerd
Sign up to receive the Merriam Webster Dictionary Word of the Day email.

Memorize The Word to become a Super Word Nerd Warrior
Romans 10:8-9 For what does it say? "The Word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim:  If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

How will you celebrate and make your words count today?

Happy Bubble Bath Day & Happy National Take the Stairs Day

Makes me want to sing Rubber Ducky with Ernie on Sesame Street.
I'll need to relax in a nice hot bubble bath if I run up and down the stairs today!

Speaking of exercise, I discovered a new website - World Walking.com
They have lots of routes all over the world and a street map with sights along the way and you can link your fitbit to their site.  It's similar to Racery.com without the competition and World Walking is free!

If you're taking the stairs, make sure they lead somewhere.  I've seen pictures on the Internet of stairs that lead to a wall - what a disappointment that would be.

If you don't want to or are unable to take the stairs here are some alternative ways to celebrate:
watch Rocky II (I've never seen the movie but I've seen the scene where he runs up the steps),
watch this clip on YouTube of Gene Nelson in Tea for Two - that's taking the stairs!,
and, my favorite, ride an escalator!  (I know, that's not the purpose of the day.)

Genesis 28:12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

Happy National Soup Month

What a great time for soup!  My BFF likes soup whether it's hot or cold outside.  I prefer soup on cold days.  I have heard of cold soups but have never tried any.

It's also National Bobblehead Day.

That makes me think of the song Doo Wah Diddy Diddy by Manfred Mann.

May this verse "bobble" around in our heads today.
Ephesians 4:15  Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him Who is the Head, that is, Christ.

Happy National Bean Day & Happy Cuddle Up Day

Hubby fixed a country ham this past weekend which will make a flavorful bean soup tonight.
We get to celebrate National Bean Day and National Soup Month all at once!
If you don't like bean soup, you can have burritos with black beans,
or refried bean dip with chips,
or play Don't Spill the Beans,
or play Bohnanza  (It's a card game about growing bean fields - great game),
or eat jelly beans!

Celebrate life today by cuddling up with a loved one or a warm blanket or stuffed animal.
Remember that God loves us with an everlasting love and wants to have a relationship with us.

How will you celebrate today?

Happy National Whipped Cream Day & Happy National Bird Day

Mmmm, whipped cream on pie,
               whipped cream on hot chocolate,
whipped cream straight from the container into my mouth.  Yum!
This is a nice day to celebrate.

Do you have a favorite bird?  If you do, why is it your favorite?  Have you ever been to an aviary?
Last month we were in Florida, staying on the 6th floor of a building right on the beach.  As I looked out the balcony doors on the first day, a flock of birds flew by close enough for me to really see them.  It was amazing and I stood there with my mouth hanging open and missed the photo opportunity.  A secret dream of mine, waking and sleeping, has always been to fly.  How about you?

How will you celebrate today?  Maybe a warm piece of pie topped with whipped cream while you watch one of the many movies about birds - Rio (one of my favorites), Fly Away Home, The Birds (scary), just to name a few; or read one of the Maximum Ride books by James Patterson; or play a trivia game about birds; or dance the chicken dance.

Everyday is a once in a lifetime chance; this day will never come again - make it the best it can be.

Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?

Happy National Trivia Day & Happy National Spaghetti Day

Did you know that Dr. Seuss' name was Theodore Seuss Geisel?  Seuss was his mother's maiden name.

Back in the day (1980's in this case), we had the Trivial Pursuit game.  You answered questions as you traveled around a board and if the answer was correct you received a little piece of "pie" (triangle) to put in your game piece.  Ah, those elusive little pies.  Does anyone still have that game?  Does anyone still play?

A lot of us love to play trivia games, maybe not Trivial Pursuit, but with the Internet at our fingertips, we are surrounded by trivia.  Here's the link to a fun Superhero's trivia quiz.  Test your superhero knowledge and eat some spaghetti while you play!

Happy Festival of Sleep Day and Happy National Drinking Straw Day

Wish I could participate in Festival of Sleep Day but I have to go to work.  Hope someone gets to celebrate it!

Guess I will celebrate National Drinking Straw Day.  Sounds like a trip to McDonald's on my way to work!  Hmmm, iced coffee or diet coke?  Tough decision.

Psalm 3:5 I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.

May you be sustained by God's grace and mercy.

How will you celebrate today?

Thursday, January 2, 2020

Lots on the calendar to celebrate today!
Happy Swiss Cheese Day
          Happy World Introvert Day
                    Happy National Buffet Day

I spent yesterday with my best-est friend (what better way to start a new decade) and I have to - I mean, get to - go to work today.  Since I am an introvert, I'm going to withdraw from people-ing as much as possible to celebrate World Introvert Day.  No buffet, too many people; but I might like a ham and Swiss sandwich while in my cave.

However, the truth is I am never really alone; God is always with me.
Joshua 1:9 " Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

How are you celebrating today?

Happy "Z" Day & Happy New Year!

How will you celebrate Z Day?
I may sing "Zip a Dee Doo Dah" while wearing something with Zippers.  Then I may Zip around while eating pretZels out of a Ziplock snack bag, but I might not Zip, I may be laZy instead.

As we celebrate the first day of a new year and a new decade let's start off reflecting on God's Word.  May we be Zealous in our love and devotion to the Sovereign Lord and to His Christ.

Zephaniah 1:7 (NIV) "Be silent before the Sovereign Lord, for the Day of the Lord is near.  The Lord has prepared a sacrifice; he has consecrated those he has invited."
