Happy National Tortilla Chip Day & Play More Cards Day

Food is on every celebration day this week!  If you want to plan ahead, Tuesday is pancake day, Wednesday is pistachio day, Thursday is chili day, Friday is tartar sauce day, and Saturday is surf and turf day.

We are having taco salad for dinner to celebrate National Tortilla Chip Day.  You can also celebrate with chips and salsa, chips and cheese dip, or make nachos.

It's also Play More Cards Day, maybe.  My research came up with 3 different dates - Feb 22, 24, & 26.  So, why not celebrate all week!  That way we might hit the right day.
During WWII, Bicycle Cards made decks of cards that were designed as a puzzle.  When they were put together they created a map.  The map was supposed to help prisoners make their way to safety once they escaped.  A deck of these cards is preserved in the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C.  So, play some cards today.  It can be Solitaire, Uno, Spoons, Poker, or Old Maid.  You can play with other people or against the software on an iPad, cell phone, or computer.  My favorite cards games are Skipbo, Golf, Canasta, Mille Borne, Phase Ten, and Classic Solitaire.  (I like to play games!)  What card games do you like to play?  With or without other people?  Be sure to eat some tortilla chips while you play!
And while you're playing, take some time to listen to Tex Ritter tell the story of The Deck of Cards.

    1. I grew up playing 500 Rummy. Michigan Rummy is more complicated. I read the directions but would need to sit in on a game to really understand it. Hopefully, you meant Nertz. I hadn't heard of that either and the rules sound like Dutch Blitz played with regular cards. My family is very competitive and we love Dutch Blitz so we'd enjoy Nertz too. Thanks for sharing.
