Celebrating National Mustard Day, National Disc Golf Day, National Girlfriends Day & Homemade Pie Day

Looking for something to do this first Saturday in August?  Try these.

Did you know there's a National Mustard Museum in Wisconsin?  Normally the town of Middleton, WI holds a street festival to celebrate National Mustard Day.  However, this year, their celebration will be virtual and we can all attend!  It will be on Facebook live today from 10:30 am - noon (Central time).  Check out their website for details.

Disc golf is a good social distancing game.  Son, Daniel, enjoys the sport.  Since I can't throw a frisbee, it sounds even more frustrating than regular golf.  But if disc golf is your bag, today is the day to do it.

Chat the day away with your girlfriends (if you're a girl; only one girlfriend if you're a guy).  There's something special about the bond between girls.

Try your hand at making a pie this afternoon.  I saw a post on Facebook not long ago that went something like this:  If I have to open a can, it's homemade.  Whether you like to made food from scratch or use pre-made things, I agree, if you put effort into it, you're making it.  Put a little embellishment on it to make it your own "homemade."  Add a couple of pepperoni's before you put that pizza pie from the box into the oven.  Spread whipped cream over the instant pudding you put in the store-bought pie shell.  Homemade pie is about the love that goes into the making.

Hope you enjoy your day however you choose to spend it.

Matthew 13:31-32  He [Jesus] told them another parable:  "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field.  Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches."
